The Southern Flyer Diner at Brenham Muni (11R)
Rating: 5 out of 5.
Décor, food quality, all good. Can't see ramp from restaurant but can see runway if you choose the optional "sit outside" which is great (screened-in-porch). Sometimes in the hustle and bustle the people aren't as friendly as the place leads us to think they will be.

Crosswind Cafe at Texas Gulf Coast Rgnl (LBX)

Courteous service, good décor, comfortable temperature. Great view of the ramp.

Where's the Fire Hangout Cafe at Apple Valley (APV)
Rating: 4 out of 5.
This restaurant opened about the beginning of April, 2014. I stopped in to give it a try with our flying circus group of pilots. It is open Weds-Sun 0700-1400.

The menu has some great breakfast items such as cinnamon brioche french toast with various fresh fruit toppings available. We had some custom burgers such as pastrami topped angus hand made burger patty on a brioche bun. Super, delicious!
Then there were the fries...crunchy, not oily...menu says they are twice baked.

Definitely would fly out of my way to stop in to have breakfast or lunch.

Foxy's Landing at California City Muni (L71)
Rating: 3 out of 5.
It's not much to look at from the outside - no sign, no terrace - but the inside of the small terminal building is light and modern. Foxy's is in the eastern half of the building and has high ceilings and a split-level layout. Food is the usual breakfast all day, burgers, sandwiches; good enough to be worth a stop, and there were a fair number of locals on a Sunday. There's also a small 'pilot room' for flight planning in the terminal. 3-4 stars.
