This is not a typical airport restaurant. The food is very good. Salads are excellent. The owner told me that 80% of his business is from locals. The view of the runway is great, usually a fair amount of traffic to watch. United Express flies in/out along with an assortment of GA from 172's to two Cessna Mustang's last week. Parking for the restaurant is along the side, opposite the tower. Leave the field via the gate in the back corner of the parking. Remember to write down the code to get back in.

An enjoyable setting for lunch, overlooking the airport activity (even better if it's nice enough to sit outside), with good food and attentive service at reasonable prices.

My Sunday brunch was ok -- and it appeared to be pretty expensive partly due to the included champagne. None for the pilot -- it turns out they will give you a discount if you pass on the alcohol.

Nice view of the transient ramp, and a short walk from parking. Someone else wrote about a nuclear TFR -- I'm not finding one. Didn't those expire a long time ago?

This has been a long time favorite lunch destination of mine. The restaurant is just northwest of the tower with a row of parking near the fence. Since 9-11, the gate at the back entrance to the restaurant has been closed. However, about 100 feet to the right (northeast) is another gate with a cypher lock. Make sure you memorize the gate code before walking through, then just walk up the small hill to the restaurant front entrance. Take advantage of the nice San Luis Obispo weather & sit on the back covered patio. Their popcorn shrimp are a great appetizer & every entree I've triend has been very good. Their burger is one of the best I've had at a fly-in restaurant.

Depending on the way you're leaving the airport to go back home, you may want to take a quick beach tour before you head out. A straight-out departure on 29 will get you to the coast in a few minutes. From there, you can follow the coast north or south for some great views. Be careful, however, of nuclear TFR always in place on the coast to the west of the airport.
