They've rebuilt and are open! Their pulled pork is as good as ever. Don't forget to get some banana pudding on the way out and wave to the little kids watching the planes fly in and out.

Presently take out only. They are still trying to hire workers to reopen after the post-fire rebuild.

Absolutely the best fly-in food I've found in North Carolina. Awesome service and delicious BBQ. A solid FIVE STARS. Sadly this place burned to the ground in June 2021. Hopefully they will rebuild, since it was the best. I think there are GoFundme websites for both the building owner and food operator to help reconstruction efforts.

Still the best smoked pork out there. The smoked chicken is excellent also plus the deserts are the best and made fresh everyday. The airport is now public use and the new ident is BQ1. Wonder where they came up with that?

This has to be one of the greatest restaurants I have been to for good BBQ in a long time. Runway is a little tight in larger aircraft (SR-22 was just fine, but PA-46-350 a little tight) but the food makes it worth it. Land and clear to the South East and park anywhere on the grass and walk right in. Great place to see how life on an airport could be!!!

At least 4 trips so far to this outstanding restaurant! Can't say enough good about the food or service. Hospitality galore and prices very reasonable. One thing though, they don't take credit cards but they do take my out of state personal check. I've personally seen 19 planes parked in the grass next to the bar-b-q but there is plenty of room for double that. It's a private field but everyone is welcome. Their web site gives an accurate glimpse of what you will experience so check it out. You all just come on over and sit a spell!

05/23/09-I just visited this great place today. The food is outstanding and the staff is great. It was a real nice time. Ended up taking a few to go orders with me to share with the rest of the family. We will visit again!

WOW! This restaurant is fantastic! Their specialty is the pulled pork, and it's melt-in-your mouth tender. They cook/smoke it slowly in a huge steel pit outside that has several rotisserie racks in it. You have your choice of several types of sauce to put on it. There's also a great selection of Southern home cooked side dishes and desserts. Better do a weight and balance before you depart! Due to the sloping rwy the preferred pattern is land 13, depart 31, which I got from the regulars. Eat outside or inside. If you don't like this place, get yo Yankee crack back up north!

These folks do a very good Eastern NC style BBQ. There are minor variations to the "Eastern NC BBQ", and is the smoked, pulled pork, style. There are various sauces on the table but the pork BBQ itself is cooked (as best *I* could tell) without sauce and is melt-in-your-mouth tender with a great smoky flavor. They are open Tuesday-Sunday and the restaurant is immediately beyond the grass parking area. This is a private field, but open to the public. The approaches are good, but there are trees .. and some might find the runway a bit more short/narrow than they are used to .. so do your homework before flying in. For more info call 910-947-7591.
